We valued iconic “The Sims” houses if they were real life

One of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, and now worth over $5billion, The Sims burst onto the scene early in the year 2000, and has pretty much been ingrained in popular culture ever since. One of the things that makes the game so iconic is the houses. So, it seems only fitting that SDL Property Auctions take a look at some of the most famous houses from the video game franchise, and see how much they’d really be worth in 2023.

Landgraab Mansion
Of course we had to begin with Landgraab Mansion, not only is this one of the most remarkable properties in The Sims, it’s also likely the most expensive (alongside Goth Mansion… but we’re coming to that!). Throughout The Sims franchise, the Landgraab family are featured multiple times, and in those games, they are always the wealthiest families. Their fortune is attributed to real estate and property, as well as their company, Landgraab Industries. They of course live in a large mansion. For a house of similar stature in 2023, we think this would be priced around £2.75m, depending on the area too. In December last year, we sold a nine bedroomed country house prior to our National Property Auction for £1.9m, and this kind of size is the thing we’d imagine for the Landgraab Mansion!

Goth Mansion
Another one of the most notable properties within the game, the Goth Mansion, home to Mortimer, Bella and Cassandra Goth. Their mansion is of a similar size to the Landgraab’s, but with more of an English gothic style; think pointed, church-like roofs, bay windows and archways. We imagine this sort of property, around a suburb area, would be looking at around £950k.

Pleasant Home
Nestled on Sim Lane, the Pleasant Home in The Sims 2 has a simoleon worth of around $102,000, but in real life, this detached, three bedroomed, three bathroom home would be worth around £300-400k. Similar to this detached property in Derby.

Broke Home
It may be notoriously one of the cheapest houses in the game, but the Broke Home in The Sims 2 still boasts a pool in the backyard. For a detached, two bedroomed property with a pool, you’re likely looking around £300k-£400k.

Mom’s House
A very modest one bedroomed house, Mom’s House is where the game begins in the original The Sims for Playstation, and it gives off all of the picket-fence feels. It has a bungalow aesthetic to it, and we reckon in the real world, Mom’s House would be worth something like £160k. We actually think it would be a similar sort of feel to this bungalow in Enderby that we sold in February, prior to our National Property Auction.

Casa Caliente
This love shack, seen in The Sims Bustin’ Out, consists of a huge living room, large kitchen, tiny bathroom and small bedroom… and, like other Sims houses, also has a pool in the backyard. So, although the franchise would have you believe Casa Caliente’s red wallpaper and sheepskin rugs in Bustin Out’ make their home worth more than the Broke’s in The Sims 2, they’d likely be very similar in price.

Darius’ Penthouse
Appearing in The Sims Urbz, Darius’ Penthouse is the final place that your sim resides, making it the crème de la crème of all properties throughout the game. It is, quite literally, a penthouse suite with all the trimmings – think a helipad and a hot tub! Let’s not forget it’s also based in the city, so we believe his penthouse would likely come in around the £4.5m mark. Which, you could say, is expected for his “Superstar” status.
