SDL Property Auctions’ November catalogue features the chance to bunker down underground

With over 185 lots in their latest catalogue, SDL Property Auctions are previewing their November property auction which features a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of British wartime history.

In Lincolnshire, the Land lying to the North West of Kenwick Hill – more commonly known as a Nuclear Bunker, will be going under the hammer. Built in the 1950s, it was designed to provide protective accommodation for three observers in the event of a nuclear attack, where they were expected to report on the nuclear bursts and fallout in the aftermath. They were provided with enough food and water for fourteen days and had a land line and radio communications available to them. With a guide price of £25,000+ plus fees, this is sure to be of interest to a great number of wartime aficionados.

Managing Director and Auctioneer Andrew Parker said: “Lots like this one don’t come around every day and it’s a real privilege to have the chance to sell it in our November auction. There’s been a lot of interest already, and it will be one to keep an eye on in the coming months to see what the future owner does with it. With a scheme of work, it could become a quirky little hideaway from the rest of the world!”

A substantial development opportunity of a different scale is also coming to auction in Sheffield with the sale of Eckington Community Centre. The property comprises a freehold brick built single story building on a site that extends of 2.6 acres. Subject to the appropriate planning consents being obtained, the site may have potential for redevelopment, especially owing to its to its popular residential location and proximity to the M1 motorway and Crystal Peaks shopping centre. With a guide price of £75,000+ plus fees, this is one for any developer looking for their next project.

If you’re in the market for a renovation project, then 14 Beverley Street in Derby may be perfect. In need for a full scheme of renovations, this is an attractive, late Victorian, two bedroomed mid-terrace in a quiet cul-de-sac location close to Pride Park and Derby City Centre. With the location being a popular choice for first time buyers, landlords and investors alike, this is sure to be a popular lot for many people, especially considering its guide price of £55,000+ plus fees.

Similarly in the Somercotes area of Derbyshire, another renovation project is waiting for a new owner. The Old School House is a detached, two storey building which was constructed in the mid-1870s. The property could benefit from a sympathetic scheme of works which could create a unique detached dwelling with considerable character. There is also the potential to create a separate building within the grounds of the property, subject to planning consents being obtained. With a guide price of £130,000+ plus fees, this is sure to be popular with any buyer wanting to make a house their home.

Another property with period features remaining intact is 134 Camp Hill Road in Nuneaton, which has a guide price of £135-160,000 plus fees. This is a two bedroom, semi-detached property in need of full renovation throughout. There are a number of feature fireplaces throughout the property which could make stunning focal points within each room. The property also appears to have had its electrics and plumbing upgraded, meaning some of the refurbishment expenses have already been included – although we’d always recommend viewing to see this for yourself.

Andrew continued: “This property will appeal massively to investors, developers, builders and home owners alike. The trend of home renovations continues to grow, especially with people documenting their progress online, and I would think that with the right improvements, this could become a lovely family home or rental opportunity.”

These are just a few of the opportunities being sold in November through SDL Property Auctions, with the November National Property Auction featuring a great range of homes, apartments, commercial properties, land and more, suiting every requirement and budget.
